The holidays are one of the busiest and most meaningful times of the year at Rise! We’re seeking detail-oriented volunteers to help us prepare holiday mailings, thank-you letters, and donation packets for our end-of-year campaigns and community outreach.

This is a wonderful way to make a difference behind the scenes — helping connect more families, donors, and partners with the programs that make the season brighter for everyone.

Stuffing and labeling envelopes for our Holiday Gift and Thanksgiving Drives

Assembling informational and donor packets for community partners and supporters

Preparing thank-you letters and campaign materials for distribution

Ensuring all materials are neatly organized and ready to share holiday joy

This role is perfect for individuals or small groups who enjoy organizing, paying attention to detail, and supporting Rise’s mission of empowering families and uplifting our community.

Your behind-the-scenes work ensures that every letter, gift, and act of kindness finds its way into the hands of someone who needs it most.

Join our Pantry Afternoon Team and help us close the day with care and community! As part of the Rise Pantry Afternoon Shift, you’ll provide hands-on support to clients during the final shopping hours and assist staff with tidying, organizing, and resetting the pantry for the next day.

This role combines the friendly, client-facing duties of our Shopping Specialist position with behind-the-scenes teamwork to ensure the pantry remains clean, welcoming, and ready for service.

Welcome and assist shoppers as they shop during the afternoon hours.

Walk with clients through the pantry to help with shopping and item selection.

Organize carts, baskets, and displays to maintain smooth flow.

Restock shelves and food displays as needed.

Support the pantry reset as morning operations wrap up.

Help with light cleaning tasks: wiping surfaces, sweeping, taking out trash, cleaning bathroom and organizing supplies.

Communicate any needs or concerns to pantry leadership staff.

This is an active, hands-on role that involves:

Lifting, bending, sorting, and moving food and donated items

Cleaning and organizing pantry and bathroom areas

Reading labels, inspecting food for freshness

Pushing carts and handling supplies

Comfort using a tablet or learning new digital tools

Flexibility to switch between client support and closing tasks as needed

Enjoy helping others and being part of a mission-driven team

Rise's Annual Thanksgiving Distribution

Description of Tasks:

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help distribute over 800 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need. This event will take place outdoors and requires volunteers to assist with the following tasks:

If you do not check in, we can not confirm attendance or participation, as all volunteers must sign up.

This is a hands-on, outdoor volunteer event where you’ll be sorting non-perishable items (and possibly produce), packing supplies, and helping us prepare hundreds of Thanksgiving baskets.

Important Details:

Volunteers must be 16 or older (no siblings or younger children, please).

Event takes place outdoors on the dock – dress for the weather!

Closed-toe shoes are required for safety.

Be ready for lifting, bending, and repetitive motions; stairs are also part of the site.

Safety is a top priority, so please consider your comfort and ability before signing up.

Please arrive on time for your shift, check in using the CauseConnect app upon arrival, and make sure you’re registered in advance.

Due to the high volume of interest, this sign-up serves as a waitlist. Volunteers will be assigned to roles based on availability and need, and assignments may shift as needed. Flexibility is appreciated to ensure a successful event for our community! 

Volunteer Stations & Shifts (Under review and subject to change): 

Shift: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Tasks: Prepare tables, organize gift stations, and set up the distribution area.

Tasks: Assist families at designated stations, hand out gifts, and keep up the holiday spirit!

Whether you’re welcoming someone at the door, helping them check in, guiding them through the pantry, or assisting with scheduling their next visit, you’re creating a space that feels respectful, dignified, and supportive.

This role is perfect for people who enjoy interacting with others, staying organized, and being part of a team that cares deeply about service. You may be asked to jump between different tasks during your shift based on the pantry’s needs, so flexibility is a plus!

Welcome clients as they arrive, offer a friendly greeting, and help them feel comfortable

Check clients in for their scheduled appointments our PantrySoft system

Update client records—confirm address, family size, or dietary preferences as needed

Assist with referring to registration for new clients who haven’t shopped with us before

Answer client questions about available food, pantry procedures, or appointment guidelines

Walk alongside clients as they shop, offering help with:

Understanding item limits

Finding culturally familiar or diet-appropriate foods

Whether you’re organizing shelves, cleaning restrooms, sweeping walkways, or sorting donations, this role is all about teamwork, care, and creating a space that feels welcoming and dignified. Depending on the day, you might help with stocking and organizing food and light cleaning or facility upkeep—so if you’re flexible, hands-on, and love a good refresh, this is a great fit!

Stuffing Mixes Gravy 
Broth: Canned or jarred turkey, chicken, or vegetable broth.
Canned Soups & Stews: Hearty options for chilly days.
Baking Supplies: Flour, sugar, cake mixes, pie crusts, pie fillings, and baking powder.
Desserts: Packaged cookies, cake mixes, canned pie fillings.
Bread & Rolls: Shelf-stable dinner rolls or cornbread mixes.
Canned Protein: Tuna, chicken, or beans. Pasta & Rice: Boxed pasta, rice, and instant macaroni and cheese. Personal Care Items: Toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and other essentials.

Rise Backpack & School Supply Drive
Help Us Send 1,000 Students Back to School Ready to Learn!

There’s something powerful about giving a child a backpack. No matter their background, showing up on the first day of school with the supplies they need helps level the playing field—and opens the door to opportunity, confidence, and success.

At Rise, we’re seeing record-high requests from families in our community. Many of them are unable to afford essential school supplies. This year, our goal is to distribute 1,000 pre-filled backpacks to local students in grades K–12.

Here’s how you can help:

Start a neighborhood collection

Host a drive at your workplace or place of worship

Add a few extra supplies to your own back-to-school shopping

Donate gift cards or funds so we can purchase high-need items (please submit gift cards separately)

Many families in our community are facing tough times, and something as simple as a toothbrush or a warm meal can make a world of difference. That’s where YOU come in! We’re asking our wonderful supporters to help by donating items like:

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss
Soap, cleansing wipes, and hand sanitizer, Feminine Care Period Products, and more.

Whether you bring a few items or a whole bag, your generosity will help brighten someone's day. Let’s come together to make this season one of giving, renewal, and community spirit!

Together, we can ensure everyone in our community feels cared for and supported this spring.
